Postcolonial studies is a umbrella term for a large collection of scholarly efforts that researchers around the world have undertaken to achieve a correct understanding of the colonial and post-colonial world in various fields of the humanities. Different theories of postcolonial approach have different concerns; such as migration, oppression, race, gender, identity, resistance, and representation. None of these are postcolonial in an essentialist way; but together they from a context that gives meaning to postcolonial studies. This approach has probably influenced literary criticism and theory more than any other field. In the present study, an attempt has been made to draw on this approach to show how the three important concepts of colonial alienation, double consciousness and colonial violence in the negritude theory of Frantz Fanon are constructed through a kind of postcolonial realism in Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun.” Frantz Fanon is a prominent psychiatrist and philosopher who, through his works, has investigated the various dimensions of colonialism and its effects on the culture and identity of colonized societies. This descriptive-historical study is grounded in Fanon's views and thematically analyzes its case study (i.e. “A Raisin in the Sun”) based on Fanon's fundamental concepts. The present study argues that Hansberry rejects the dominant naturalistic tradition in American dramatic literature of his time in favor of a kind of defiant negritude, which has been made possible by relying on a kind of postcolonial realism in the form and the visceral explanation of the concepts of negritude in the thematic features of the text.

This approach has probably influenced literary criticism and theory more than any other field. In the present study, attempt has been made to draw on this approach to show how the three concepts of colonial alienation, double consciousness and colonial violence in the negritude theory of Franz Fanon, as a prominent theorist in postcolonial studies, are constructed through a kind of postcolonial realism in Lauren Hansberry’s A Raisin in ... .This descriptive-historical study derives its theoretical foundations from Fanon's views and explains its case study, i.e. A Raisin...,in a semiotic way within the framework of the fundamentals of drama theory. The present study argues that Hansberry pushes aside the naturalistic tradition dominating the American dramatic literature of her time in favor of a kind of combative negritude, which has been made possible by relying on a kind of postcolonial realism in the form and the visceral explanation of the concepts of negritude in the thematic features of the text.
